My journey to Botanical Art has been a long one. I trained first as a nurse in New Zealand, married and had two children, then studied Music and Singing at Otago University in Dunedin, New Zealand.

I received grants to study singing in the UK in 1981, so with my husband and children aged 10 and 12, we made to journey to the other side of the world and stayed. In 1996 I had a bad dose of glandular fever which took nearly two years to recover from. During that time I began painting flowers, and thus began my painting journey. In 2001/2 I studied Botanical Design with Anne-Marie Evans and Helen Allen at The Chelsea Physic Garden, passing with Distinction. In 2016 I began the CSBA Botanical Diploma Course, passing with Merit in 2019. Music and Art have continued to fight for dominance, and continue to do so!
